Some of the freshest poke I’ve had since going to Hawaii, quality of fish was top tier!! The spicy ahi tuna Poke & Mac salad were my favorite.
Tips: Grab some poke from Aloha Fresh, beverage from Nijiya Market across the street (200 fts), and end the meal with a Pau Hana shave ice dessert (next to Nijiya). You can't go wrong with this combo! Although the San Jose Japan town only stretches approximately 4 blocks in length, it is packed with gems waiting to be discovered. Aloha Fresh is one of the stores for example. The poke here came pre-seasoned with a variety of combinations. The seafood here is fresh and the portions are generous. There are a few poke bowl options where you can choose 1-2 poke and your choices of sides. I love that you can choose your side as not everyone likes the seaweed salad or the crab salad. There are cucumbers, pickle onions, kimchi, Mac salad, and lomi lomi salad with additional cost. All the items are displayed clearly so be prepared to know what you want when it is your turn. In addition, the shop offered hot food items such as fried chicken (you can call it small bit sized chicken) with a few flavor options. And for those who are wondering, YES, they sell Spam Musubi! I love it how it is cut in half diagonally, such a thoughtful details that remind us to slow down and not shove the entire Musubi down our throat! For dessert, the shop offered a few flavors of mochi cake displayed by the cash register. Did I mention their Ahi is shipped from Hawaii and never frozen? Now that is freshness you can taste!
Love eating here! The quality of the poke and all other toppings has always been good everytime I've gotten it. Today I got spicy ahi and spicy shoyu ahi and both were delicious! Didn't get it today, but also really enjoy their poke nachos.
It is a luxury to get ahi from Hawaii. There's a texture that cannot be replicated on the mainland. I found the poke to be very good. I would go again if I were in the area. Everything is takeout. There is no seating.
very fresh and delicious! the mac salad and the imitation crab salad are a touch too mayo-y for my taste (perhaps some black pepper or vinegar could help?) but the poke items are super good. I did think the sweet soy salmon was a bit bland, but I also think that was what helped me taste how fresh the fish is, so it wasn't a complete L
This was hands down some of the best poke I’ve ever had. Super fresh and superb flavors for their spicy sauce. You can get your poke over greens or grains or a combination of both. I got mine over black rice and arugula. Generally? Poke spots give you the option of sauce on top and I thought without it, it may be dry but that would as totally not the case. Preparation was quick and staff was friendly. I also ordered their mochi butter cake, which was delicious. Highly recommend.
the food is amazing!! definitely check out if you’re in the area! however, i was disappointed with the butter mochi and the drinks were yummy but definitely overpriced.
Aloha Fresh certainly lived up to the locals' recommendations, and my experience was a testament to their stellar reputation. Opting for take-out, I ordered the poke lover bowl, featuring both spicy salmon and Kukui Nut Ahi. The flavors were a symphony of freshness and zest, showcasing their commitment to quality ingredients. The ocean salad and macaroni salad sides were equally impressive, adding a refreshing and creamy touch to the meal. What truly stood out was the prompt service, which ensured that my meal was ready right on time. Aloha Fresh is undeniably a gem, delivering a taste of Hawaii's culinary excellence to your doorstep, and I can't wait to return for another satisfying island-inspired meal.
